How to get a marriage license in Hawaii. Step by step.
1- Select a location to have your wedding or civil union.
There are a few options for your marriage or wedding ceremony.
- Marriage paperwork in an office - no ceremony involved. You simply get legally married.
- Wedding Elopements at a beach or park
- Wedding ceremony at a private residence, hotel or estate

2- Make a reservation with your chosen date and time.
For those who want a ceremony at a beach, park or a private venue, Rev. James Chun offers wedding packages on his website here:
If you're only in need to sign marriage paperwork, the easiest way would be to make a reservation with Hawaii Civil Wedding.

3- Complete an online marriage / civil union license application with the State of Hawaii.
Before your wedding or marriage paperwork, you'll need to obtain a marriage license from the Hawaii Department of health.
Here is the online marriage application.
The online form will ask you to provide information about you and your partner. It will also ask you to give names of your parents. If you or your partner were divorced in the recent past, the Department of Health will ask you to provide a divorce decree. This shouldn't be necessary if you have been legally divorced for over 3 months.
If there is anything on the form that you are unsure of, just fill it out the best you can. When you meet with an agent of the Dept of Health, they will go over all your info and you’ll be able to correct anything you need.

4- Meet with a marriage agent from the State of Hawaii Department of Health.
Meet with a marriage agent to pick up the license before the wedding. Once you've filled out the online application and paid the fee, your marriage license is ready for pickup (M-F, excluding holidays). Be sure to go to the Dept of Health together – they need to see you both at the same time. You will also need to provide them with a valid government issued photo ID.”
